Job Title: Senior WPT & Al Fikr Consultant
Department: Information & Digitalization Department
Reports to: IM&T Head – Subsurface & Wells Portfolios (IDAS)

Purpose of the Role

The Senior WPT & Al Fikr Consultant is responsible for supporting, analyzing, designing, developing, testing, and deploying petroleum engineering applications—specifically the Well Planning Tool (WPT) and Al Fikr—on the .NET platform. The role covers the full software development lifecycle, from conceptualization to deployment, with a strong emphasis on technical excellence, domain expertise, and business alignment within upstream operations.

Technical Skills & Expertise

• Proficiency in programming and markup languages: C#, VB.NET, HTML/HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, PL/SQL

• Demonstrated experience in front-end and back-end enhancements, system integration, and performance optimization of WPT and Al Fikr applications

• Solid understanding of petroleum engineering workflows, particularly in well planning and field development

• Strong architectural knowledge of Three-Tier, Multi-Layered, SOA, MVC, and MVVM design patterns

• Hands-on expertise with technologies such as .NET, .NET Core, Ajax, AngularJS, CSS, Bootstrap

• Familiar with development and management tools: Visual Studio, Oracle SQL Developer, TFS, Visual SourceSafe

• Proficient in generating reports using Crystal Reports, RDL/RDLC, PowerBuilder, and visualizing systems with Microsoft Visio

• Experienced in database modeling, stored procedures, triggers, materialized views, and job schedulers in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server

• Working knowledge of data warehouse principles

• Competent in deploying and maintaining applications using IIS (Internet Information Services)

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related scientific field

• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in application development, including at least 2 years focused on .NET technologies

• Proven development experience in WPT and Al Fikr, including customization, optimization, and integration to support upstream digital workflows

• Familiar with Agile/Scrum methodologies and basic DevOps concepts

• Skilled in project planning and tracking using MS Project and Microsoft Office Suite

• Strong leadership capabilities with a proactive, customer-centric approach and sharp analytical thinking

• Known for meticulous attention to detail and quick adaptation to new technologies

• Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes

Industry Awareness

• Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as SAP, SharePoint, Livelink, NAS Filers

• Experience in data analytics or digital transformation initiatives is advantageous

• Understanding of the Opportunity Realization Process and software lifecycle management in the Exploration & Production sector is preferred

Principal Accountabilities

• Independently gather business and technical requirements by engaging with diverse user groups under tight deadlines

• Design and propose technical solutions aligned with well planning workflows and upstream digital strategy

• Prepare and manage functional and technical specifications; document and track changes throughout the development cycle

• Estimate effort, define project schedules, and ensure alignment with stakeholders on milestones and progress

• Develop high-quality software by applying industry-standard coding practices and reviews

• Manage application source code using Microsoft TFS and enforce structured version control

• Lead quality control activities, including internal testing, UAT, bug fixing, and deployment

• Plan, document, and lead the deployment process into production environments

• Maintain comprehensive documentation, including workflows, database changes, and user guides

• Support application custodians in user training and awareness activities during releases or upgrades

• Coordinate with application engineers and analysts to ensure smooth development and integration

• Collaborate with support teams for effective knowledge transfer and operational handover

• Adhere to organizational standards for data/document management, compliance, and governance
