Our client a pharma company is currently hiring for a General Manager -for their Wholesale Division.

This role is responsible for planning, directing and leading the business’ wholesale operations in the UAE, with a focus on driving sales and maximizing profitability.

The General Manager – Wholesale oversees all aspects of the Wholesale function, including budgeting, product selection, customer development, regulatory compliance, inventory control, promotions implementation, sales team retention, and agency/supplier satisfaction. The role-holder will ensure continued development of company's brand and value proposition in Wholesale segment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY

• Drive sales force effectiveness. Key elements of this area are to drive higher share of customer spending, new customer acquisition, market penetration, covering white spaces in terms of products and customers.

• Design and implement the strategy and budget for the wholesale business in UAE. While developing sales budgets, it is imperative for the role holder to drive alignment with suppliers own plans for budgeting period.

• Ensure achievement of budgeted sales and profitability targets.

• Ensure sales team performance management, training and retention.

Monitor sales and contribution by customer, product and region on a regular basis and devise strategies to address any variations between actual and budgeted targets.

• Monitor receivables from customers and devise credit control and sales strategies to ensure collection within working capital policies.

• Monitor inventory levels regularly and develop plans with marketing and finance to liquidate inventory, where necessary.

• Liaise with Sales Managers to determine appropriate product mix, in line with consumer needs and market demands, and produce accurate purchasing forecasts.

• Develop and implement relationship management plans for key accounts (suppliers, agencies, clinics, hospitals, etc.) to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.

• In collaboration with Finance, evaluate feasibility and profitability assessments of current and new business development opportunities.

• Implement Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistency in wholesale operations and compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Collaborate closely with Marketing to execute impact brand building and promotional initiatives (promotions, special offers, product launches, conferences, trade shows) to increase market share of products.

• Collaborate with other business functions (HR, IT, Finance, Logistics) to drive operational efficiency of the Wholesale function.

• Conduct periodic reviews and performance appraisals of team members to identify and address training needs and skills gaps and ensure continuous development by setting measurable objectives.

• Recruit and train staff to drive sales. Ensure team is motivated and incentive to increase revenue-generation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college / university.

• Master’s in Business Administration with a specialization in Sales and Marketing from an accredited University is preferred.

• Minimum 10-12 years of experience with demonstrable experience in sales, customer development and implementation of marketing campaigns, particularly in the healthcare sector.
