Our client is now recruiting for a Editor  (English) – Expo News Service.  You will be directly reporting to the Head of Expo News Service

Job Purpose      

Communications, Marketing & Sales

The Communications, Marketing & Sales department takes an integrated approach to raising awareness of and amplifying Expo 2020’s rich and diverse value proposition, driving engagement, participation and visitation both locally and internationally. The department also seeks to support the positioning of the UAE more widely, as well as enhance the impact of the Expo in both the pre and post event phases including its long-term legacy.

Marketing & Communications

The Marketing & Communications team is responsible for the overall positioning of Expo 2020 in domestic and international markets. This includes creating compelling stories and campaigns for a wide range of audiences across a breadth of platforms, liaising with internal and external stakeholders including Partners and International Participants to ensure consistency in message and identify opportunities for collaboration, and building relationships with local and international media.

The team is also tasked with maintaining Expo owned channels including digital and social, upholding the integrity of the Expo 2020 brand across all touchpoints, facilitating commercial media partnerships, providing technical and content services to broadcasters, and managing sponsorship and brand ambassador relationships.

As Editor (English) – Communications you will play a key role in the Expo News Service team, working with internal and external stakeholders to write and edit content for external and internal purposes and take part in supporting Expo’s strategic objectives.

Core Accountabilities    

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the consistency of the Expo 2020 Dubai's editorial style, and communicate with Expo 2020 Dubai's writing and editing team and agencies.
  • Proactively advise on Expo 2020 Dubai’s editorial style across internal stakeholder groups and ensure correct positioning, messaging, style and tone is used across external material.
  • Oversee the quality of output from the Expo News Service and press office

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Expo 2020 Dubai’s editorial guidelines and ensure consistent style, tone and messaging across all external communications
  • Review press releases, features and statements to media, media Q&As, key messages, web stories, social media posts and other documents related to Expo 2020 Dubai initiatives and announcements
  • Work closely with the Media Liaison Officers to help generate positive press coverage of Expo 2020 Dubai
  • Review promotional and internal communications material
  • Coordinate with other teams to fulfil tasks in a timely manner

Knowledge, Qualifications & Skills required

Essential            

  • Native level of written and spoken Arabic and English
  • 5+ years’ experience in editor roles with the media
  • At least five years of experience in journalism, able to write quickly and accurately
  • Expert level of written Arabic and English, with the ability to produce clean and accurate material on deadline
  • Excellent experience in subbing, editing and rewriting copy
  • Experienced in working quickly and to deadline
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in communications planning, media engagement, and social media
  • A BA degree or equivalent in journalism or a relevant subject
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Planning and organisation
  • Initiative and a self-starter
  • Cool under pressure
  • Flexible attitude
